Wednesday, December 8th: Sung Village

 

8:00am: 

Depart from Ha Noi to Sung village. 

12:00pm:

Lunch at homestay. 

1:30pm: 

Visit the textile cooperative of Dao Ethnic minority in Sung village. Learn how to dye fabric with natural indigo leaves and use beeswax to print motifs on the fabric. Go to a traditional house to learn how to make “Doz paper”, ‘thit chua’, or sour meat, and “ruou hoang” or local wine.

 

Then visit another traditional house, talk with locals, and receive “lucky Dao words” written by old men in the village on “Dó” paper. 

 

6:00pm:  

Return to the homestay for a hot shower or herbal bath at a healthcare facility and enjoy a homemade dinner before visiting an old man’s traditional house to talk about their culture and life. 

Thursday, December 9th: Da Bai Village

7:30am: 

Breakfast at homestay 

8:30am:  

Trekking to Mong stream (with 4 km on concrete road, 2 km on forest road that will go downhill). We then go ahead to Da Bia village by boat (40 minutes) (If you can't continue hiking, you can transfer by car to Da Bia village.) 

12:00pm:    

Lunch at homestay. 

2:00pm: 

Discover Da Bia village (walk around 2 km). The local guide talks about Muong Au Ta culture.

Short trekking through the bamboo forest and visiting fish cages. 

Free time to relax or swim, go kayaking or rafting in Hoa Binh Lake 

5:00pm:

Comeback Sung village  by car (13 km) 

5:30pm:

Prepare the meals for lunch with the owner homestay: You will learn to cook some food such as spring rolls, and meat wrapped in betel leaves, … Dinner with a local family.  

8:00pm:    

Enjoy art performances and take part in some dances with local people. 

Friday, Tuesday 10th: Sung Village

7:30am:  

Breakfast at homestay. 

8:30am:

Explore "Amazing cave" and a short hike to the nearby Sung Cave before continuing to a hundred-year-old tea plantation where a local farmer will share the secrets of good quality tea, from picking the best leaves to processing them. Pass by a community house where locals teach the traditional Dao language to young people, keeping this important cultural aspect alive. Back at the village center, you learn how to make and try Shan Tea from hundred-year-old Shan Tea trees. 

12:00pm    

Lunch at homestay. 

1:30pm 

After lunch, say goodbye to our hosts and head back to Hanoi where we will catch a plane to Saigon.
